Photo Equipment For Sale

Don't get really excited unless you're a devoted film shooter. But if you are, this is a collection of well-cared-for gear that may interest you.

Ideally, I'd like to sell all of this as a single lot but will entertain the right offer for individual items.

Like most sellers on Craigslist, I'll only do business locally. I won't ship it across the country, around the world, or even to Tarrant County. Contact me and we'll set up a time to meet close by (to me) and you can see the equipment to verify its condition and that I've got what I'm offering.

I'm thinking around $1000 for the lot of Canon and Minolta gear — OBO. (Total asking price for individual pieces is $1360.) Having checked around at sites selling used gear, I believe this is an excellent deal. Jump on it while it's still available.

Canon

28mm f/2 Canon FD Lens
$250 — Excellent

This is where wide-angle really starts. The lens is in great shape, is pretty darn fast, and is also quite sharp.

Alternating four convex and concave lenses in the front lens group serves to curb distortion, astigmatism and coma. Compared to the earlier original FD 28mm f/2.0 lens, this lens is 24 percent shorter in overall length and 23 percent lighter."

85mm f/1.8 Canon FD Lens
$140 — Very Good

"With its pleasing perspective, the 85mm has long been considered an ideal focal length for portraiture where depth of field plays an important role. Thus stress was placed on enhancing this lens' full aperture capabilities. Sharpness increases at smaller apertures should also produce overall crisp results."

35mm f/2.8 Canon FD Lens

"The most popular lens at 35mm focal length and also the most economical. As a result of holding the lens speed at f/2.8, the overall length of this lens is only 40mm and its weight of 165 grams makes it the lightest lens in the system. As for the optical features of this lens, the concave element of the front group is of meniscus shape with a strong curvature."

Canon FD Lens
100-300mm f/5.6

This lens has a single push/pull type zoom and focus ring, and employs the mechanical compensation system.

Though its zoom ratio is 3X, it is compactly designed, and easy to operate.

Its closest focusing distance is 2 m (6.6 ft.), which is an improvement over the 2.5 m (8 ft.) minimum focusing distance for the F 85 - 300 mm f/4.5 lens.

Canon M Extension Tubes

"The M extension tubes (M5, M10 and M20) are tubes that only have the mounts on either side (and lack the mechanics the FD ones have), so the aperture has to be set manually on the lens. It also means an aperture locking accessory (a small plastic piece that snaps on the aperture lever and keeps it locked as if the lens were mounted on a camera) or a macro auto ring is needed. This way you can control the aperture manually."

"The 35mm f/2.8 W.Rokkor uses a simpler five elements in five groups structure, in comparison to the f/1.8's eight elements in six groups, enabling a more compact size and lower build cost. As a result it sold for approximately half of the cost of the faster lens. It will be interesting to see if the extra elements in the faster lens provide better performance, as well as the better speed and brighter viewfinder."
